Sonipat: Heavy rainfall lashed Kundli and Rai areas of Sonipat on Sunday, bringing life to a standstill. Several low-lying areas were submerged under water, causing major inconvenience to residents.
In Kundli Industrial Area, roads turned into water streams, leading to massive traffic jams and difficulties for commuters. The situation was no different in Rai Industrial Area and nearby colonies, where rainwater entered streets and residential areas.
Locals complained that poor drainage systems have been a long-standing issue, and every year heavy rains create the same waterlogging crisis. Many residents struggled to leave their homes, while office-goers faced delays and hardships.
Authorities stated that pumping machines have been deployed to clear the water and normalcy will be restored soon. However, with stagnant water still troubling several areas, residents expressed anger and demanded a permanent solution.
